Carl “David” Gilmore, 77, of Bluefield, VA passed away Monday, October 7, 2024, at Princeton Community Hospital surrounded by his wife and two sons. Born May 21,1947 in Crystal, WV. You could always find David outside doing things around the house and helping everyone with big and small projects. He never said no to anyone.
He was a son of the late Carl Gilmore and Pearl Hartwell Gilmore. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by three brothers, Will, Doug, and Charles. Those left to cherish David’s memory are his wife of 53 years, Doris Gilmore; sons, David Gilmore and husband Jim of Boston; Gary Gilmore and wife Ananda of Roanoke; brother, Buford Blakenship and wife Shirley of Lexington, NC; Sister-in-laws Beulah Aust and family of Bluewell; Jean and Lewis Lunsford and family of Frankford, KY; Pat Blakenship and family of Pocahontas; and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, October 11, 2024 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2024 with Pastor Bill Lykins followed by burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Memorial Baptist Church in Bluefield, VA.
