Carl Hall Obituary

Carl Eugene Hall, age 97, of O'Fallon, Ill., born August 19, 1928 in Greenville, Ill., passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025 at HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital, O'Fallon, Ill.

Carl grew up in Greenville, Ill., and enlisted in the Army Air Corps at the young age of 17. During World War II, he served in the Weather Squadron and retired as Master Sergeant after 23 years in the Air Force. For 12 months in 1968-69, he worked as a Navy contractor at the South Pole during Operation Deep Freeze - a mission of which he was very proud. He continued his work with the National Weather Service and retired in 1990. Thus, he began his next life of service with the Shriner's Children's Hospital in St. Louis, volunteering for over 35 years to welcome patients and families to the hospital. Carl dedicated countless hours of sharing smiles, offering support, and raising funds to support the hospital's mission of serving children.

He was a longtime member of the O'Fallon Masonic Lodge, Ainad Shrine Temple and Scottish Rite Bodies of Southern Illinois. Carl was a fixture for many years at area Shriners events and provided a model for Shriner's screening clinics.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne in 2001; siblings Edgar Hall, William (Fern) Hall, Eva (Ray) Gardner, Kathleen (Howard) Shoaf, and Linda Link, and his parents Edgar Reed and Rhoda Louise, nee Stever, Hall.

Survivors include his daughter Monica (Jim) Allison of O'Fallon, Ill., son Michael Hall of O'Fallon, Ill., grandchildren Jonathan (Sarah) Allison, Robert (Corinne) Allison, Heather (Robert) May, and Lauren Anderson; great-grandchildren Dylan, Devin, Logan, Quinn, Ingrid, Greta, Silas, Hadley, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations are kindly suggested to Shriner's Hospital of St. Louis and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Memorial visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m., Monday, December 22, 2025 at O'Fallon First United Methodist Church, 504 E. Hwy. 50, O'Fallon, Ill. Masonic Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m. at the church. Online condolences may be shared at www.wfh-ofallon.com.
