Carlie, Gina, PJ and family- Skip was always so helpful to me in providing loans to my clients. Because we spent a lot of time on meetings and by phone we got to know each other well and for that I will be forever grateful. Everybody loved Skip. He was an amazing loan originator but even a more amazing person. When he retired it was a sad day for many who missed him as their "go to" mortgage guy. I can only imagine how sad it is to lose a man who cared so much for his family amd so my heart goes out to you all and I pray that your sorrow will pass as soon as it is humanely possible.

I lived miles away from the all the guys in Fort Hunter. My father built a baseball field behind our house, and they came. Skip was always there, bigger than most of us, but a true gentle giant. He loved Willie Mays, tapping his glove with a "Say Hey" and basket catch. One night I found myself at a birthday party on Terry Ave -- maybe Mark Havis's or Ricky Barnett's. But it wasn't a birthday party. It was a Halloween Party. Everyone had costumes and masks. I was all dressed up, lost and embarrassed. From out of the crowd of kids came a big guy. He took his mask off and said "Here Rich. Put this on." It was Skip and I was saved. I'll never forget it. My deepest condolences to all of Skip's family.

Uncle Skip helped raise my brother and I. He coached us and taught us about sportsmanship. He was always upbeat and willing to play. He would swim with us for hours or throw us off the dock. He imparted lessons that helped me become who I am today. There are few people who had a greater positive role in my life. I will be forever grateful for the relationship we had. I wish his family well and am sorry for this tremendous loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was looking forward to seeing Skip at our GCHS 56th Reunion this coming Friday, October 8. My family moved into Ft. Hunter in 1956 and I knew skip from 3rd grade on. He was an upstanding and great guy. The picture is from our 54th Reunion with Skip sitting with our good friend Jim Angus.

To the entire Klein family, Diane and I want to express our most heartfelt condolences. Skippy was my Babe Ruth coach, then my Polito's softball team compadre and of course vested member of the "Rexfest". I so much enjoyed having him as my neighbor, but most of all as my friend. Whenever we saw each other I was always greeted with that smile and laugh, that I will never forget. Skippy as I liked to call him, will be sorely missed by many. God Bless, our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
