Carl Brewster Loud, age 94 of Mooresville, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Guthrie Corning Hospital. He was born on March 22, 1929 in Bayonne, NJ to Carl and Anna (Beggs) Loud. He married Patricia Knowlton on April 17, 1954 in Canoe Camp, PA.
He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He was later employed by Corning Glassworks as a Millwright, retiring in 1987, he would have received his 75 year pin in March 2024.
Carl will be remembered for his pride in his country and military service, never missing a chance to receive a discount for his service by showing off his Korean War Veterans hat. When meeting Carl the first thing you would notice was his distinctive strong handshake. Carl's quick wit and humorous personality was always a joy to be around. He was constantly looking for the next opportunity to offer a quick laugh or prank for those around him. If you had the opportunity to walk past his well manicured lawn you may be tempted to pick up that lucky quarter on his sidewalk, but Carl was a step ahead and made sure he glued that down for a cheap laugh. When visiting his home you may have discovered that your shoes are too tight because he might have slipped tissue paper in them.
He was an avid fan of Clint Eastwood and Westerns, watching Price is Right, Let's Make a Deal, Wheel of Fortune, all things CB Radios, and building utility trailers. He enjoyed a hard day's work in his retirement, working odd jobs for neighbors and friends. Above all else, Carl loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He lived his life to the fullest, was and will continue to be an inspiration to his family.
Carl is survived by his wife Patricia Loud of 69 years of Mooresville NC; grandchildren: Chad and Jennie Humphrey of Corning, Bridgett and Patrick McLean of Addison, Daniel and Patrick Close of Rifle, CO, Jennifer and Paul Sands of Addison, Adam and Michele Makitra of Bath, Brandon Windows and Jenna Dart of Cameron Mills; great-grandchildren: Daniel, Taylor, Kailey, Zachary, Quay, Kendra, Emma, Cade, Alec, Kolby, Carly, Blake, Connor, Brenna, and Jayce; sisters: Lorraine Erway of Wellsboro, PA, Peggy Chilson of Nelson, PA, Shirley Dunkleberger of Mansfield, PA, and Kathleen Powell of Rocky Mount, NC; son in law: George Lopez of CA; close friends: John and Wanda Redden of Troutman, NC.
In addition to his parents, Carl was predeceased by all three of his children: Carla Humphrey, Paula Windows, and Cheryl Loud; siblings: Muriel, Doris, Daniel, Mary, Maureen, Alice, Everett, and Warren Loud; son in law: Milson Windows
