Grover P. "Sonny" Walker

Grover P. "Sonny" Walker, age 88, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira, New York.

Born on January 21, 1938, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, Sonny was the son of the late Grover C. and Leila (Bonham) Walker.

Sonny began his working life at the Box Factory in Corning, New York. He later built a long and respected career as an automobile mechanic, working at Kent Brown, Friendly Fred's, and Crane's Towing, before eventually operating his own business, Walker's Auto Body. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

A man of many passions, Sonny enjoyed pitching horseshoes, snowmobile racing, horseback riding, motorcycles, playing "Ten Thousand," and paintball. He especially loved to dance-particularly square dancing-and over the years earned many trophies for his participation in various activities.

Sonny was best known as a legendary prankster whose quick wit and playful spirit brought smiles and hearty laughter to everyone around him. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for turning acquaintances into lifelong friends. Above all, he was a devoted husband and family man who always placed the love of his wife and family at the center of his life.

His faith was the foundation of his home. Sonny loved Jesus deeply and lived as a true example of steadfast faith. At the age of 84, determined to be baptized in natural water, he made the adventurous walk down to Little Niagara to fulfill that commitment-an inspiring testament to his devotion.

Sonny was truly one of a kind-a loving husband, devoted family man, faithful servant of God, and role model to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Norma Walker of Painted Post, NY; daughter, Penny Walker of Painted Post, NY; son, Perry (Mellisa) Walker of Tioga, PA; step-children: Shirley Butler of NH, Allen (Cynthia) Brimmer of PA, Kathy (Dale) O'Dell of Lawrenceville, PA; grandchildren: Andrew Arnold, Tina (Michael) Stocum, Casey Button, Arica Harris, Michael Greene, Jazmine Walker, Samantha (Jordan) Scouten-Matthews; great grandchildren: Alliee Grady, Hailliee Harris, Dustiee Harris, Soul~La'Eva Labrador, Koda'Lynn Labrador, and Emory Harris; step-grandchildren: Regina, Rochelle, Shelly and Deann.

In addition to his parents, Sonny was predeceased by the love of his life, Eva Mae Walker - married 54 loving years.

Friends and Family are invited to Celebrate Sonny's life on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at The Addison Community Center on Community Drive, Addison NY from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Sonny will be laid to rest in the family plot in Addison Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Flint Funeral Home, 10 Wall St., Addison has been entrusted with Sonny's care.
