William Wright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Flint Funeral Home - Addison on Jan. 30, 2026.
The family of Willian LeRoy Wright of Lawrenceville, PA, is saddened to announce his passing on January 24, 2026 at the age of 92 years. Bill was born on January 3, 1934, near Addison, NY.

His family includes his loving wife, Gloria (Bartkowski), with whom he celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Also surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law: Timothy (Linda) of Avoca, NY, and Thomas (Darlene) of Addison, NY; daughters Tami Baker of Elkland, PA, and Tari Wright of Addison, NY; grandchildren: Autumn (Rob) Jacobson, April Wright, Jenna (Nelson) Ciriaco, Chanel Wright, Levi Knowles, and Jordan Wright; great-grandchildren: Jeremiah Jacobson and Melissa Jacobson, Runa Knowles, Berlynn Cook, Leah Wright, Foli Ellias and special friend, TJ Meffic. He was predeceased by his parents, H. Elwin and Elsie L. Wright, a brother, David E. Wright, and granddaughter, Tari M. Wright of Addison.

Bill was a graduate of Addison Central High School, He was also a 20-year veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. Early in his career, he worked with a few of the old fighter planes,

then moved on to the C-130 military transport plane which was used heavily to move troops and cargo during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. As huge and rugged as it is, it can land on rough and unprepared runways.

He knew the plane inside and out, and later became a Flight Engineer, flying with the "AF Brass" around the country. After he retired from the Air Force, he worked in industry as a Maintenance Supervisor. In his retirement years, Bill traded airplanes for old cars that he magically transformed into "street rods". He never met a "hot rod" or another "car guy" that he didn't like - cars were his life's passion.

Bill was a member of The Lawrenceville Lion's Club, several car clubs, and The Glen Regional Corvette Club.

Friends are invited to call at Flint Funeral Home, 10 Wall Street, Addison, NY, on Friday, February 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Funeral Services following at 1 p.m. Pastor Harry Dow will officiate.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Elkland, PA at the convenience of the family.

Earlier today

Bill was the consumate car guy, willing to help anyone with a car or anything mechanical. He was very bright & a great story teller ~ I loved listening to his stories from Viet Nam & about working on planes.

He loved their fur babies & always had room for them when he was in his recliner.

He was loved by family & friends & will be missed by many.
