Kurt Schaefers Obituary
Age 67, of Lawrenceville, passed away on January 21, 2026. Beloved husband of 39 years to Eileen Schaefers; loving father of Kurt M. (Lexi) Schaefers, Lisa Schaefers, and Melissa Schaefers; grandfather of Elijah, Olan, Lorelei, and the late Kohl; brother of Kenneth, and the late Bernie, Debbie, and Jeanie; son of the late Bernard and Anna Schaefers. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A self-described homebody rooted in 10th Ward, Kurt shaped his life out of his upholstery and office service business at "The Shop" on Butler Street-filled with lacquer fumes, staples underfoot, and the sound of people jagging each other-and from the yard behind his home up on the extension, where summers with family and friends were spent swimming, grilling, tending the vegetable garden, and simply sitting together looking out over the hill, a life deeply anchored in people and place.
Visitation will be held on Saturday and Sunday, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the D'ALESSANDRO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY LTD., Butler at 46th Sts., Lawrenceville, where family and friends will then gather on Monday at 9am. A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude Parish, St. Raphael Church at 10am to follow. I am so sorry for your loss. I´ve know Kurt since grade school and again in the last 10 years or so at the Vfw, playing the machines and hoping to get the big hit. Kurt always gave me a warm hello and it´s sad to hear of his passing.

I was one of his many customers for maybe the past 20 years. Usually, the furniture would be left with him but there were times when he would just do the repair while I waited. Very personable and shared stories of his you get years in the community. He did excellent work and was a good man.
