Carl was born March 14, 1943, in Indianola, IA, the 7th of 8 children born to Margaret (Douglass) McCoy and Thomas John McCoy.
Carl meet his wife, Marylou Erb, in grade school. They began dating in High School and married on November, 10th, 1962. They had two boys, Tony and David.
While in High School, Carl began attending Chicago Technical College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering. After that, Carl attended Iowa State University and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Technology.
His first job was with PDM (Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel) as a structural engineer, assisting in the design of such famous projects as; the St. Louis Arch, the Houston Astrodome and Busch Stadium. He was then hired by Witkin Homes in 1969 and moved to Lakewood Colorado. In 1972, he began building and designing his own homes for sale and established his own company, Prestige Homes. He built over 750 homes in the Denver Metro area into the mid 1980's. He and Marylou relocated to Sacramento, California in the late 80's and he began designing and building custom homes under the company name, "McCoy Homes", where he built and designed approximately 200 homes. In 2020, Carl retired and he and Marylou moved back to Colorado in the Broomfield area. He enjoyed playing snooker and competitive air rifle target shooting in retirement.
His memory and legacy will be cherished by survivors Marylou, his loving wife of 63 years; sons, Tony McCoy and David McCoy, brothers Kenneth McCoy and Steven McCoy, Sister Jeanenne Glascock, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
