RICHMOND, IN– Carl McDaniel, age 98, of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, January 2, 2026, at Reid Health.
Born April 6, 1927, in Burning Springs, Kentucky to William and Ida Melton McDaniel, Carl has lived in this community since 1945. He was a World War II Army veteran and retired from Alcoa in 1989 as a power lift operator. Carl was a member of First Assembly of God. He enjoyed birdwatching, flowers (beautiful), deer watching, cooking, traveling, and country rides. Carl loved to give cards with money to people and going to the Chinese buffet for frog legs.
Survivors include his daughters, Jeanie (Henry) Shafer and Jackie Goeke; son, Willie (Shanta) McDaniel; step daughter, Barbara (Keith) Bradford; grandchildren, Suzanne Stanley, Lori James, Jama Cahill, Keyla Bowen, Tony Goeke, Elliott Goeke, Kyle DeHaven, Scott DeHaven, and Abigail Sarich; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; son in laws, Larry Deaton and Mike DeHaven; nieces; nephews; and many friends, including his close friends Judy Hartman, Jim Fessler, and Mort the little farm lady.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Aileen Burke McDaniel, who died in 2010; his first wife, June Musselman McDaniel, who died in 1975; daughters, Ruby Deaton, and Wanda DeHaven; parents; great granddaughter, Reghan James; sisters, Helen Harris, Edna Steele, and Rosie McDaniel; brother, Dave McDaniel; and son in law, Tony Goeke.
Visitation for Carl McDaniel will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2026, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2026, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Carlos King officiating. Entombment will follow in Earlham Memorial Mausoleum with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
