With questions about society's conflict during his youth and losing his mother when he was 19, he left home. He worked on a pea farm in Walla Walla, Washington and worked with migrants in northern California. He followed Martin Luther King and that is when he found his answers. Curry landed in Denver where he met Janet, a single mother of three boys. Curry was an elementary school art teacher. He saw students without any friends and grouped them together in groups of three. By the end of the school year they had become friends. He also taught poetry class at Lakewood's disability program. His students wrote beautiful poetry that was displayed publicly yearly. Curry's compassion in life was to help people belong. Curry passed away peacefully in his home February 13, 2025.
