Mr. Carl Robert Niesobecki, 90, of Oakville, passed away peacefully at home on November 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Waterbury on December 20, 1934, Carl was the son of the late Paul and Lucy (Duglenski) Niesobecki.

Carl was a proud graduate of Wilby High School Class of 1953 where he was a standout basketball player. His exceptional talent on the court helped lead his team to a state championship that same year- an achievement he remembered with great pride throughout his life.

Following high school, Carl honorably served his country in the United States Army and was deployed overseas to Germany from 1955 to 1957. After returning home, he began a long and dedicated career with the City of Waterbury, first as a firefighter and later as an arson investigator.

Carl was a familiar face at the Waterbury YMCA, where he faithfully spent five days a week at the gym. In his later years, he found joy in golfing at various country clubs across Connecticut. Above all, Carl cherished time spent with his family, who were the center of his world.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sue (Slattery) Niesobecki of Oakville; his daughter, Dana Darr and her husband Umer of Abu Dhabi and his daughter Sara Niesobecki of New Haven; and his beloved grandsons, Taimur and Haider Darr. He also leaves behind his brother, Edward Niesobecki and wife Susan of Bridgewater, CT.

Carl will be remembered for his strength and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories his family will forever hold dear.

Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to care for Carl and assist his family during this difficult time. Please leave your condolences, memories, and words of comfort on his Tribute Wall on this page.
