In Connecticut Hospice, Friday April 30, 2010, Carl D. Prota, PhD., beloved husband of Jeanne Duvoli Prota of 27 Surrey Lane, Branford. Devoted father to Stephen V. (Rita) Prota of Branford, Dr. Carl P. (Maria) Prota of East Haven, James A. (Linda) Prota of Branford, Maria (Michael) Sciaudone of Fairfield, and Jeanne Ann Prota of Branford; and grandfather to Christine, Stephanie, James, Daniel, Suzanne, Matthew, and Katherine Prota and Samuel Sciaudone. He was the brother of Vincent A. (Marie) Prota of Cheshire, Catherine (Victor) Pandozzi of Falls Church, VA, and Nancy (Dr. Warren) Brini of Branford. Carl was born August 25, 1929 in New Haven, son of the late Pasquale and Mary Cammarano Prota. He received his BS from Loyola College in Baltimore and his Masters Degree and PhD from Fordham University. He taught Biology at Quinnipiac College, and in 1967 he became a Professor of Anatomy and Physiology at Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ, and became the Chairman of the Biology Department, and Associate Dean of Sciences. He was named Professor Emeritus and retired in 1994. He was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford. His funeral will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford Wednesday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 10:00. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 – 8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
