Carl was born in New York City, New York on June 11, 1942, the only son of the late Anna and Karl Rest. Carl was devoted to his beautiful high school sweetheart, Margaret, for over 61 years.
His career as a Civil Engineer at the NYC Transit Authority spanned over 30 years, and he happily retired in 1995. His children fondly remember how he was able to fix virtually anything, as well as his wealth of knowledge on many topics. He was an avid dog lover and thoroughly spoiled every family dog.
Carl is predeceased by his parents and his sons, William Henry and Leo Patrick. He leaves behind his loving wife Margaret (née Curtin) Rest, devoted children Carl (Wei) Rest, Frieda (Brian) Opielski, Annamarie (Doug) Dardaris, Margaret (Doug) Loughery, and Lena (Robert) Beaven. He also leaves behind 9 beloved grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, October 10th at Day Funeral Home in Keyport, New Jersey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, October 11th at St. Joseph's RCC in Keyport, NJ and interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
