Born in Suffern, New York, Barbara was raised in Cliffwood, New Jersey by her mother, the late Vera (Schou) Best.
She is also predeceased by her beloved husband Wayne Spafford and her brother-in-law Michael Fieux.
After graduating from Matawan Regional High School, Barbara received her bachelor's degree in education from Tusculum College in Greenville, Tennessee. Upon returning to New Jersey, she had the honor of serving the community she grew up in, working for the Matawan Aberdeen Regional School District teaching second and third grade at Cliffwood Elementary School for over forty years. She was also an active lifelong member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Keyport.
Barbara is survived by her loving children Christopher Spafford and his wife Melissa of Tampa, Florida and Dana Spafford of Hazlet; dear grandchildren Harper Spafford, Kinsley Spafford, Emma Fest, Ethan Fest, and Elliot Fest; and her loving sister Sherry Fieux of Seminole, Florida.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent in Barbara's memory to The Karen BeasleySea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center.

Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation for Barbara on Monday October 6, 2025, from 4PM to 8PM at Day Funeral Home 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey 07735 and again Tuesday October 7, 2025 __AM at the funeral home for a __AM Funeral Service at Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Keyport located at 60 Maple Place Keyport, NJ 07735.
Burial will follow in Shoreland Memorial Gardens of Hazlet.
