Carl Brian Roy

Carl Brian Roy, 78, of Eagle, ID went to meet his Creator on Wednesday, January 14th while surrounded by loving family after a battle with multiple lung complications.

Carl was born the seventh of Arda and Clarissa Roy's nine children on October 4th, 1947 in Rolla, ND and grew up in St. John. His childhood was spent playing baseball and basketball, roaming the Turtle Mountains, and fishing, swimming, and enjoying the family cabin at Lake Upsilon.

After graduating valedictorian from St. John High School in 1965, Carl attended Mayville State earning a degree in teaching. He then taught at Warwick, ND before returning to St. John. There he taught high school for several years and, in 1970, married his high school sweetheart, the former Beverly Jean Jackson of Rolla. Relocating to Bozeman, MT, he earned his Masters in Education from MSU in 1975.

He was then a school principal at Noxon, MT where his two children were born. Stops in Pablo, MT and Frazer, MT followed, before settling his family in the Sun River Valley in 1980. He served as the principal at the Ft. Shaw-Simms Elementary School until he helped with its consolidation with the Sun River Elementary School, after which he was the Sun River Middle School principal until 1996. During semi-retirement, he served as part-time school administrator at Ulm Elementary and, after a move to north Idaho, the White Pine School District. In 2004, Carl and Bev moved a final time to Eagle, ID in order to be closer to family. There he also worked part time at the Idaho Distance Education Academy and as a tax preparer.

Carl had many interests and hobbies including hunting, fishing, skiing, motorcycle riding, and golfing.

He enjoyed traveling with Be along with other family and friends throughout the US and overseas.

His most fond activity may have been following the sports and other activities of his three grandchildren.

Those preceding him in death include his parents, brothers Arda Jr. and Duane, and sister Valerie.

Carl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly, children Kristen (Damon) Williams of Middleton, ID and Tanner Roy of Simms, MT, granddaughter Emmy (Cooper) Fry of Peoria, AZ; grandsons Reese Williams and Jackson Williams of Middleton, ID; brothers Gary (Karen) Roy of Palmview, TX and Emery (Penny) Roy of Eagle, ID; sisters Karen of Hilo, HI, Jennifer (Warren) Fegley of Boise, ID and Connie (Harlan) Thibert of St. John, ND as well as many other loving family and friends.

Memorial services are planned on February 20th at the Eagle Christian Church in Eagle, ID and in early July in the Sun River Valley, MT.
