Memorial services for CARL F. RUPP, 78, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, with a reception following, at the First Congregational Church in Torrington with Pastor Matthew Gordon officiating. Carl died on April 2, 2025, at his home in Torrington, and cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request's memorial contributions in Carl's memory be directed to the First Congregational Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home, and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com Carl was born February 18, 1947, in Scottsbluff, NE, the son of Carl M. and Marie (Backer) Rupp. He graduated from Huntley High School in 1965 and attended the University of Wyoming on a football scholarship. Following a career-ending injury, Carl returned home to Goshen County Community College, where he met his wife, Margaret. They were married April 23, 1966. Carl completed his degree in Business at the University of Wyoming where he and Margaret also welcomed their first daughter, Catherine (Cathy). Carl and Margaret returned to Huntley following graduation where they raised their three daughters. Carl farmed the land for over 44 years before retiring in 2012. Carl held a deep faith and lived with optimism, humor and belief in service to others. He served in several leadership positions throughout his lifetime, leaving an imprint on the community, having served on the Platte Valley Bank Board of Directors; EWC Board of Trustees; Community Hospital Board; First Congregational Church Board; and as Goshen County Commissioner from 2012-2018. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Margaret Rupp; his daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Sam Mirich, Carla Patterson, and Caren and Joe Speckner; his sister and brother- in-law, Amelia and Robert Hytrek; and niece, Anna Hytrek. He loved teasing his eight grandchildren and enjoyed watching all of their sports events. His grandchildren include Nicholas and Nathan Mirich; Josephine, Charley, and Amelia Patterson; and Natalie, Charlotte, and Lydia Speckner.
