Carl P. Savage died on February 27, 2026, at Flowers Retirement Community in Clarksdale. He was born in Webb in 1923 to the late John J. and Jewel Savage and lived there until he joined the Army in 1943.

He was selected for flight training in the Army Air Forces (AAF) and trained on a variety of aircraft culminating in service as copilot of a B-29. In August of 1945, he was in California scheduled for deployment to the Pacific when World War II ended.

Upon his return he attended Mississippi State University, graduating with a degree in business. He spent most of his career in cottonseed oil processing.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Virginia Savage and her son, Ronnie; a sister, Mildred S. Gray; and two brothers, John J. Savage, Jr. and William Malcolm Savage.

He is survived by three nephews: Frank R. Savage of Huntsville, AL and his children, Derrick Savage and Kristi MacDonald; James D. Savage of Huntsville, AL and his children, David and Jennifer Savage; and Robert C. Gray of Lancaster, PA.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 1:00pm at Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale, MS. Meredith Nowell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
