Carl Daniel Schriever, age 77, of Dover, died Sunday, July 27, 2025, while in the care of Ohio’s Hospice’s Truman House at New Philadelphia.
Born in Dover, Ohio on November 21, 1947, Carl was a son of the late Carl F. and Irma F. Varadi Schriever.
Carl was a graduate of Dover High School. He was a machinist by trade and worked alongside his father for a number of years in the machine shop they owned and operated. He later joined the Gradall company at New Philadelphia and worked for 16 years with the firm until his retirement.
Carl was a member of the New Philadelphia Elks, the Dover Moose, the Tornado Club, and the Zoar Gun Club. In his free time, Carl enjoyed fishing and hunting. His biggest passion, however, was tractor pulling. Carl was a long-time member of the Ohio Tractor Pullers Association and had been involved with the activity since the early 1970s.
He is survived by two sons, Steven (Kendall) Schriever of Duarte, California, Scott Schriever of Trenton, Ohio; his companion of more than 20 years, Wilma Snyder of Dover; step-children, Kelly (Troy) Oreto of Canton and Erik (Bobbie Jo) Kugler of New Philadelphia, and seven step-grandchildren.
Completing the family are his siblings, Nancy Rabonitz of Bolivar, Marilyn Salame, Kim (Jane) Schriever, and William “Bill” Schriever all of Dover as well as his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother and father, Carl was preceded in death by a niece, Jessie Ann Schriever.
The family will greet guests on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 1-2 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Pastor Brian Flood, will lead a service beginning at 2 PM.
