Carl Tyler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 9, 2012.
Carl Fredrick Tyler 68, died peacefully at home Wednesday May 9th after a courageous battle with cancer. A "Celebration of Carl's Life" will be May 20th at Thomas Place 560 SE Brick Dr. Waukee, Iowa from 3:00 -6:00 pm. Carl was born September 15, 1943 in Ottawa, Il. to John Carter Tyler and Marjorie Ann Kelly. Carl attended Roosevelt High Mpls. MN and college at the University Wis./Milw and DMACC. Carl married Judith (Constant) Tyler, March 3, 1990 and they shared a wonderful life together with unconditional love. Judy was the love of his life and his "Favorite person in the whole world" Carl had many jobs in his life and travel from the Florida coast to the West coast before landing in Des Moines. He worked at the City of West Des Moines, State of Iowa, and the Des Moines Post Office, but his favorite job was the years he worked as a cab driver for Capitol Cab where he owned his own cab until he retired in 2007. Carl will be remembered as a wonderful loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. As a friend of his said, "If you were Carl's friend and he liked you, you knew it". He loved to spend time with Judy, visit son's and their families, fish, play cards, go to movies, and watch "Law and Order". After a bought with Chrondosarcoma Cancer in 2007 he was told he would have little use of his leg and walk with a walker for the rest of his life. He surprised everyone by walking 5-6 miles a day 6 months after his surgery and did well for 2 years before the cancer returned and having his left leg and hip amputated. He got around with a walker, or crutchers, and he never complained and continued to help his wife with anything that he could. He still surprised everyone with his fight and determination, after the cancer returned again in March 2012. It has been a blessing for Judy to have been able to be with Carl on his journey here on earth and to be with him and care for him as he made ready to meet his Savior. Those left to cherish his memory are Son's Shane (Becca) Tyler, West Frankfort IL and Mark (Kim) Saari, Biwabik, MN. Grandchildren, Ashley Sarri, Stratford, CT & Paige Sarri Dzialo, North Carolina, and Step Grand daughter Samantha Scrivner, West Frankfort, IL, and Great Grand daughter Naomi Dzialo, North Carolina.
