A memorial service celebrating the life of Carl E. Walters will be held Noon Saturday, June 9 at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel. Carl passed away Tuesday, June 5, at Hospice House with his loved ones by his side. He was born April 4, 1942 in Youngstown the son of Clarence and Bertha (Seaborn) Walters. He was born and raised in the West Lake Housing Complex, attended The Rayen School, and was a graduate of Chaney High School class of 1950. He worked at Youngstown Steel Door and retired in the early 90's. Carl was also a member of the Steel Workers Union where he had been a Union Representative and a former Vice President. After his retirement from Steel Door, Carl and his son Craig, were co-owners of two pizza shops in the area in the mid 90's. He was a member of Believers Church in Warren. Carl enjoyed going to garage sales and auctions, nature, and conversing with all sorts of people. He was a member of the “Do Nothings” coffee group at the Mahoning Avenue Burger King. Most importantly, Carl loved to spend time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He leaves his wife, the former Beverly Shepas, whom he married August 20, 1966, two sons, Carl E. (Tracey) Walters II of Niles and Craig E. (Jennifer) Walters of Canfield, as well as three grandchildren, Cooper, Julianna, and Colton. Besides his parents, Carl was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence “Sonny” Walters, and six sisters, Beverly Nameth, Audrey Sharp, Lois Zupko, Rose Ann Bisso, Betsy Jo Yeany, and Carol Kapturasky. Friends may call from 10 AM to 12 Noon Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel where services will be held at Noon. Private burial will take place in Brunsetters Cemetery in Austintown at a later date. Donations may be made to Hospice House in Carl's name.
