Carl "Ed" White, 96, of Plainfield, beloved husband of Flora (Exley) White, peacefully passed on October 29, 2024, surrounded by family after a short battle with an aggressive cancer. He was born on August 29, 1928 in Bangor Maine, spending most of his years residing Plainfield Connecticut. He served in the United States Navy as a Naval Submariner and retired after 20 years with many medals, including the World War II Victory Medal. Ed was so proud of his Military life, that he said "I would do it all over if they would take me." Followed by "I'm still good looking enough".
After retiring from the United States Navy, Ed spent most of his time enjoying his children, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved Thursday night bowling in Norwich, followed by endless visits to the casinos, hopeful to win big or win the lottery; Square dancing at times back in the day, watching the Boston REDSOX games always hoping for them to be the World Series Champ (while taking cat naps), attending endless baseball games for his grandson and great grandson, who were so very special to him, challenging himself to complete a thousand piece puzzle with some young competition, "That was always a good laugh" and most importantly, spending time with his family and having his daily breakfast at the Local Breakfast Diner "Day Breaks", with his close friends.
Ed spent many hours in his woodwork shop, creating masterpieces and shining his John Deere Tractors after mowing the lawn with his "little girl". Ed took great pride in educating his grandchildren and loved ones on their future. Ed was a simple man and never asked for much. In fact, he was so simple that he stayed young forever! With the wonderful care and healthy living, he NEVER AGED and looked as good as ever.
Carl "Ed" is survived by his wife Flora White of 52 years (As they say, the third time is the CHARM), Son Jack White of Maine, Granddaughter Jennifer Thyng with Great-Grandson Michael Thyng. Son Gene White and wife Carol of New Hampshire, Granddaughter Kelly and Grandson Timmy with two Great-Grandchildren. Daughters Carol Bantan of Groton, Sylvia White and Irene Levesque, both of Ohio with two Granddaughters, Amber and Shannon and one Great-Grandson Niko.
