Carl L. Yates, Jr. passed away on June 18, 2025, in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 75. Born on November 3, 1949, he was a lifelong resident of this vibrant city, known for his warmth, humor, and larger-than-life personality.

Carl dedicated many years of his life as a mill operator at the Hewitt Soap Company, where he worked diligently until his retirement. He approached his career with the same fervor that characterized all aspects of his life. A true jack of all trades, Carl possessed a remarkable ability to tackle anything he set his mind to, whether it was fixing things around the house or lending a hand to family and friends.

In addition to his professional achievements, Carl was known for his passion for bowling and his love of riding his Honda motorcycle, activities that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. He was a character in every sense of the word—stubborn, outspoken, and always ready with a joke that could light up the room. Yet, beneath this playful exterior lay a deep love for his family. He was a caring and devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose legacy will continue to inspire his loved ones.

Carl is survived by his daughters, Kimberly (Shawn) Neal and Stephanie (Fred) Loftis, and his son, Steven (Shannon) Yates. He cherished his role as a grandfather to 13 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 12 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought joy and pride to his life. He is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends whose lives he touched with his kindness and humor.

Carl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonnie Yates, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Carl L. Yates, Sr. and Mary E. Yates, and his siblings Phillip Yates and Connie Yates. Their spirits, along with his vibrant personality, will forever remain in the hearts and memories of those who loved him.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 12:30-1:30pm at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45424. The service will follow at 1:30pm. Carl will be laid to rest next to Bonnie at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton.

His life was a testament to the importance of family, laughter, and the simple pleasures that bring us together. Carl Yates, Jr. leaves behind a rich legacy of love, joy, and unwavering support, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
