Carla Kay Champlin

Carla Kay Champlin, age 57 of Albia, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at her home in Albia. Carla was born September 11, 1955, to Lewis and Linda (Webster) Braaksma. She grew up and attended school in Newton, and later married Larry Champlin. He preceded her in death March 28, 2005. Carla was a certified nurse's assistant. She enjoyed watching TV, spending time with her cat, and was very good at making beaded jewelry. She also liked to read and spend time with her grandchildren. Carla is survived by a son, Larry (Pepper) Champlin of Albia; six grandchildren, Shawma, Austin, Tyler, Hunter, Andy, and Crissie; and her mother, Linda Webster of Newton. She was preceded in death by her father and husband. Carla's body has been cremated, and visitation will be 12-4 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Carla's family present. Burial will follow in Pleasant Corners Cemetery near Eddyville. No memorial service is planned. Memorials may be made to Carla's family.
