Carla Kay Stringer, 81, of Silver Lake, Kansas passed away on January 24, 2026. Carla was born at Battle Creek, Michigan on September 11, 1944 the daughter of Clyde E. and Frances Elizabeth Wolney Gallihugh. Carla was raised in Battle Creek, Michigan. She graduated from St Philips High School in Battle Creek. She moved to Clifton, Illinois and lived there from 1971 to 1979. Carla and Bill moved to Silver Lake, Kansas in 1979. She attended Washburn University in Topeka.
Carla was the store manager at Casey’s in Silver Lake for 14 years. Carla owned a ceramic shop in Silver Lake. She enjoyed helping kids in 4-H in Silver Lake with their ceramic projects.
She enjoyed ceramics, word searches, puzzles and spending time with her family.
She was married to William G. Stringer on August 24, 1963 in Battle Creek. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2016. Carla was also preceded in death by her daughter Rebecca Lynn Stringer, son Scott Stringer, her parents, Clyde and Elizabeth and brother Joseph Gallihugh.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Locke (Mike), three grandchildren, Valerie Elazegui (Victor), Austin Roberson (Cassidy) and Eric Roberson (Cassidy); great grandchildren, Evelynn Elazegui, Eliza Elazegui and Asher Roberson and her brother Raymond Gallihugh.
A visitation for Mrs. Stringer will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Parker-Price and Davidson, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, Kansas 66608. Graveside services for Carla will be held at the Battle Creek Memorial Park, Battle Creek, Michigan. The Henry Funeral Home in Battle Creek is assisting the family with arrangements in Michigan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Silver Lake Phillips 66 Station. Funds donated will go towards Carlacappuccino Day at the station for a free cappuccino. This is to honor one of Carla’s favorite habits from one of her favorite guys, which will be held on Valentine’s Day, February 14th. www.ppdfuneral.com www.ppdfuneral.com.
