Carla Kay Silva (Johns), 66, of Caseyville, IL, born on November 7, 1958, in Benton, IL, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in her home.

Carla grew up mainly in West Frankfort, Il. She was an only child surrounded by cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends. Throughout her adult life she was a dedicated mother and worked at jobs such as daycare teacher and school bus driver. She lived in many places, but most notably Ocala, Fl, West Chester, Pa, Flemington, NJ, and Frederick, Md before returning to Illinois. Carla loved to sing and often was a member of her church's choir and/or worship team. She was well known for her entertaining skills and enjoyed hosting gatherings of friends and family. While using her "library's worth" of cookbooks she always "cooked enough to feed an army" no matter how few people she may have been expecting that day. Carla had no "specialty" dishes because she could, and she would, make them all. She truly loved Family and extended Church Family with her whole heart, especially her Grandchildren.

Carla was preceded in death by her father, Gail Johns; and her husband, Sarmento Silva.

Carla is survived by her mother, Helen Kay Johns (Turpin); children, Meredith (Robert) Ticer, William (Kristen) Chaplain, Joseph (Ashley) Silva, Robert Silva; and her grandchildren, Abigail Ticer, Robbie Ticer, Greyson Chaplain, and Violet Silva.

Memorials may be made to El Shaddai Congregation; https://esc.churchcenter.com/giving.

Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.schildknechtfh.com.

A private celebration of life and subsequent burial will take place.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Schildknecht Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
