Carlas D. Moody

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Carlas "Chap" Moody, age 51, a resident of Channahon, IL since 2005, passed away unexpectedly on September 13, 2025. He was born on April 5, 1974 in Mobile, AL.
Carlas is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Erin Moody; his sons, CJ Moody of Austin, TX, and Miles Moody of Channahon, IL; his father, James (Margaret) Moody of Mobile, AL; his sisters, Janiece (Perren) King of Hoover, AL, Jasmine (Eric) Green of Helena, AL, Jessica (Charles) Jones of Tallahassee, FL, and brother, Jamelle Moody of Houston, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Townsend Moody.
Carlas grew up in the Chicagoland area. He attended Lake Park High School, class of 1992. Carlas graduated with his Bachelors degree in 2002 from Elmhurst University. He became an entrepreneur and opened his first retail store with his business partner, Brian Heath in 2017. Carlas was known for mentoring young people and was always there for a friend in need. His compassionate spirit touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. Carlas cherished his family. He enjoyed immersing himself in different cultures by traveling the world with his loved ones. Carlas will forever be in our hearts.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 10:00 AM-12:00 Noon at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. A celebration of his life will follow at 12:00 Noon. Interment will be private.
Family and friends will gather for the repast following the service at Leveled Up, 2711 W. Jefferson St., Joliet, IL 60435 from 1:30-4:00pm.
For those who are unable to attend in person the service will be live-streamed. In the event of technical difficulties during the live-stream a recording of the service will be available afterwards.
