Monica Marie Castleman

Monica Marie Castleman, age 43, a resident of Katy, TX, (formally of Plainfield/Joliet) passed away unexpectedly on September 15th, 2025. She was born on October 14th, 1981, in Joliet, IL.

Monica is survived by her loving mother and stepfather, Stephanie and Steven Caro of Katy, TX; her cherished grandmother, Kaye Wilson; her stepsiblings, Diane Ridge, Steven Caro, Jr. (Beth), Tiffany Ahlenius (Ron), and Michele Gugliuzza (Greg); her uncles Darrell Castleman (Marcie), Chris Wilson (Cindy), Mark Friese (Jo), Rick Friese (Dale), Jeff Friese; her aunts Diane Clark (Dan); Kathy Bahr (Rennie), Jackie Allison (Mike), and Kim Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Castleman Jr., her paternal grandparents, Donald and Ruth Castleman Sr., and her maternal grandparents, Rev. Thomas W. Wilson and Beverly Hagemann. Four other stepsiblings (Adam Sproul, Aaron Sproul, Scott Caro, and Jill Caro) have preceded her in death as well as her uncle, Mike Friese.

Monica graduated from Plainfield High School and attended Joliet College for three years. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, even while residing in Texas! She had a huge place in her heart for her church, St. John Lutheran Church (Joliet, IL), especially devoting many volunteer hours in their food pantry. Her job at Jewel was important to her and the friends she had there. She loved all those around her with thoughtful sweetness, especially at holidays and birthdays. She always had a smile, a kind word of encouragement, and big hugs for everyone she met and knew.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, October 3rd, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. John Lutheran Church, Joliet. An inurnment will be at Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien, IL. following the service at St. John Lutheran Church and all are welcome to attend. Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Plainfield, was entrusted with arrangements.
