Jimita Adela Margherita (nee Baratta) Kozlowski, age 82, a longtime resident of Plainfield, IL., formerly of Woodridge, Lisle, and Naperville, IL., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. She was born on August 23, 1943, in Chicago.

Beloved wife of the late Dennis Kozlowski, whom she married on June 13, 1964, loving mother of Kim (Jim) Degnan of Yorkville and Karyn (Steve) Stephens-Randazzo of Plainfield, adored Nana of Michael Degnan, Shannon (Kyle) Boes, Jennifer and Matthew Degnan; Sydney, Courtney, Jackson and Weston Stephens, and Anthony Randazzo; daughter of the late James and Mary (nee Castaner) Baratta; sister of Dolores Baratta and the late James (Cheryl) Baratta; devoted daughter-in-law of the late Peter F. and Lucille (nee Koprowski) Kozlowski; cousin, aunt, great-aunt, and friend of many.

Jimita grew up in Chicago, attending Resurrection Grade School and Sienna Catholic High School. Her family then moved to Berwyn, where she attended and graduated from Morton West in 1960. Jimita had a love for fashion and worked at landmark retail stores such as Madigan's and Speigel. She also loved crafts and design, working at Wannamaker's in Westmont. Jimita was an avid bowler, self-taught painter, and fashion icon. She had a gift for decorating and a vision for interior design. Jimita loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her husband, attending their school, and sporting activities. Her life was dedicated to her family.

Jimita was a parishioner of St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Plainfield and was a former parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Lisle.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Parish, 406 Walnut Street, Yorkville, IL., 60560. Family will be gathering at 9:30 am in the vestibule. A live stream of the mass will be available on the parish website at https://stpatrickyorkville.org/livestream/.

Immediately following the funeral, the celebration of Jimita's life will be held at the home of Kim and Jim Degnan, 7389 Clubhouse Dr., Yorkville, IL., 60560. Future inurnment will be at Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton, IL.
