Obituary of Christopher Kenneth Kuehni

Christopher Kenneth Kuehni

Christopher Kenneth Kuehni, a loving and kind soul, passed away unexpectedly on September 9, 2025, at the age of 27. Chris was born in Hinsdale, IL, on April 16, 1998. A 2016 graduate of Plainfield Central High School, Chris excelled as an athlete, participating in track and field-especially pole vaulting-and playing football. He continued his education, graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, a journey marked by commitment and achievement. At the time of his passing, he was employed in the Maintenance Department at Argonne National Laboratory, where he took pride in his work and the contributions he made.

Chris honorably served in the U.S. Army National Guard, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to protecting and serving others. His sense of duty extended beyond military service into every aspect of his life.

An outdoor enthusiast, Chris found joy in nature through camping, fishing, and exploring the world around him. He also loved the simple pleasure of playing board games with friends and family. Yet, above all, it was the time spent with his family that he treasured most. He deeply valued connection, and his role as an uncle brought him immense joy and pride.

Chris' legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, his many friends, and all whose lives he touched with his kind and loving nature. He will be missed dearly and remembered fondly by those who loved him.

Christopher is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Sheila (nee McKay) Kuehni; siblings, Michael (Amanda) Wright, Trevor (Kristi) Wright, Kyle (Jenna) Wright, Kellie Kuehni, and Lauren Kuehni; his nephews and niece, Chase, Aiden, William, Russell, and Summer Wright, with great anticipation for another nephew on the way; and his grandparents, Darlene Kuehni and William and Sandra McKay. His loving spirit also extended to his honorary sister, Madeline Schmitz, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also survive.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Rodney Kuehni.

Visitation for Christopher Kenneth Kuehni will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention of Illinois or the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Illinois.
