Carlene passed away peacefully May 16, 2022 in Kennewick, Washington. Carlene was born June 13, 1937 in San Luis Obispo, California to Glen and Alvira Crosby. She spent much of her childhood in her beloved home on 12th Street in Ogden, Utah, at the family cherry farm. Carlene had a special bond with her brilliant older brother, Alden, and darling younger sisters, Barbara, Shauna, and Jackie. They had many adventures together from dancing in the house to working hard in the family cherry orchard.
Carlene graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1955. She was a part of the first graduating class and served as Senior Class Secretary. She helped plan many high school reunions over the years.
In fall of 1957, she married Paul Essley. They had two children, Scott Essley and Kelley (Greg) McClune. Paul and Carlene later divorced.
Carlene married the love of her life, Harold Mahany, on January 26, 1973. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple. Harold had four children from his previous marriage, Ralph (Heather) Mahany, Julie (Alan) Gillespie, Steven Mahany and Becky (Kelly) Hill. Together they had a son, Matthew (Susi) Mahany.
Carlene was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had an unwavering testimony of the gospel and served in many callings. Carlene was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP).
One of her greatest joys in life was being a Grandma to her 19 grandchildren. Carlene loved to spend time with her grandchildren in any way that she could, whether that was cooking for them, celebrating their wins or being a loving listening ear. She also enjoyed hosting Thanksgiving every year with her extended family; she always made it a point to ensure that all felt welcome in her home.
Carlene is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her three sisters. "We just lived the love for each other that we carried in our hearts"- Jackie.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd. ORDER VIDEOS
