Carlis Tackett, 74, of Waverly, Ohio passed 5:12 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2024 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.
Carlis was born January 23, 1950 in Pikeville, Kentucky, the son of the late Willie Tackett, and Zettie (Johnson) Tackett. He was united in marriage to Garnett (Montgomery) Tackett, who survives.
He is also survived by two sons, William Brian Tackett, and Carlis Christopher Tackett; four grandchildren, Alexis Christen Tackett, Robert Lee Tackett, Kerry Christopher Tackett, and Katelyn May Tackett; and four siblings, Ervin Tackett, Grover Tackett, Anna Louise (Guy) Hamilton, and Stella "Penny" Montgomery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Robert "Bobby" Tackett, Billy Tackett, Dewey Lee Tackett, Rebal Havens, and Mary Anne Hamilton; and a daughter in law, Samantha Paulette Creech Tackett.
Carlis was self-employed his entire life, and a jack of all trades. He was happy to see America great again, but he'll be voting democrat next election. When the family shared stories about their mother, Carlis would always tell the story of a bet that they once shared. When the bet was over, neither of them had fifty cents to give the other, so they split a dollar bill right down the middle. Carlis still has half of the dollar in his wallet. Carlis and his brother Ervin hold fifty-six NHRA and IHRA world records in drag racing.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Boyer Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the care of Boyer Cremation Services.
