Carliss Macula

Carliss Macula, age 73, of Budd Lake, New Jersey, died on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey.
Carliss was born in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Carl and Mary Elizabeth Smith. At the age of 15, she and her family moved from TN to Hopatcong, New Jersey. She graduated from Sussex County Vo-Tech in 1973 where she was proud to leave with a certification in cosmetology and enjoyed sports such as swimming and softball.
After High School she found herself living in Budd Lake and Mt. Arlington for many years before most recently settling down in Budd Lake these past eight years.
Carliss worked at Flanders Cleaners and was also a retail associate at Shop-Rite, both in Little Falls and Flanders. Though her favorite job and title was being a grandmother, her grandchildren whom she loved dearly were her pride and joy.
She was a lover of sunrises, often driving to the seaside to watch them. She enjoyed camping on the weekends, day trips to Atlantic City, and you could often find her dancing or crocheting.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Smith nee Raymer.
She is survived by two daughters, Michelle Dawn Macula, Lori Marie Macula and four grandchildren, one grandughter, Deidre-Anne McKinney; three grandsons, Bill A. McKinney (Stephanie Moore), Kory J. Smedira, and Dennis J. Benvenuta; one great-grandson, Bentley Macula; and two siblings, Robert Smith (Kathy) and Sheryl Parker nee Kendall; and her aunt Linda Gordon.
