Carlos Gaitan Jr, 70, widower of Theresa R. Gaitan, went to be with the Lord and return to the loving arms of his wife on August 1, 2024, in Castroville, Texas. He was born on June 13, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, a son to the late Maria De La Luz Villalobos and Carlos Gaitan, was graciously raised and loved by an amazing mother, Tomasa J. Gaitan, who made him into the kindhearted, selfless man he was.
Prior to his retirement Carlos worked for many years as a Helicopter Mechanic. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. His sole purpose in life after retirement was spending time with his grandkids. His generosity was boundless and would provide comfort, guidance, support and love to those who needed him. He enjoyed spending time with family, barbequing, and riding his bike. Carlos touched the lives of many, was deeply respected and will be remembered forever by all those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Theresa R. Gaitan and his parents, Maria De La Luz Villalobos and Carlos Gaitan.
Family members include Mark A. Gaitan (Mayra) and Melissa A. Gaitan (Rick); seven grandchildren, Brandon I. Sanchez, Madalynn R. Sanchez, Alyssa L. Sanchez, Jayden J. Sanchez, Kylie R. Martinez, Amily R. Gaitan, and Mark A. Gaitan Jr.; one great-grandchild, Mya Rose Cardenas; siblings, Celia Tejeda Barrientes, Olga Mares, Eloisa Gaitan Horne, Ruth Adams and Father Raymond Gaitan; and many loved cousins and extended family members.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm for visitation and at 6:00 pm for a rosary service.
A funeral mass will be conducted on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 12:00 pm in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. The burial will follow with a committal service at 2:00 pm in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
