Carmel DeLaFuente Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hillcrest Funeral Home - Littlefield on Dec. 4, 2025.
Carmel DeLaFuente, 94, of Littlefield, Texas, entered eternal life on November 29, 2025, in Levelland, Texas. She was born on July 16, 1931, in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, to Ascencíon and Tomasa Perea.

Growing up, Carmel was one of thirteen brothers and sisters. She learned early on that she was going to pour her love into a family of her own one day. Carmel had three sons and two daughters that were the joys of her life. She was also blessed enough to make so many more memories with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren referred to her as their 'Grandma Carmen.' She loved cooking for her family and making homemade tortillas. This was her way of keeping them together and creating memories for them all to remember. Carmel was a source of warmth and kindness for her family. She had a great sense of humor once you got to know her. Carmel's most adoring aspect was the love she had for her family.

Carmel loved getting out of the house with her family. She was full of life and cherished every moment it had to offer. She loved dancing and listening to Elvis's music. Carmel was very fond of also watching Elvis's movies. Bonanza and old western series were things Carmel loved to sit and watch. In addition to having a free spirit, she got satisfaction in going out to eat. Chinese food was her first choice. She loved drinking coffee as well, but it had to be plain black coffee. Carmel was an enthusiastic storyteller. One of her favorite things to do was tell her family about their heritage and the past times. She felt it important for them to know and remember their roots for a better foundation in their lives. Her family was the root of her being.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Larry DeLaFuente of Littlefield, Texas, Cruz Anzaldua and wife Brenda of Littlefield, Texas; two daughters, Frances DeLaFuente of Littlefield, Texas, Renea Denison of Littlefield, Texas; four grandchildren, Shayna Sierra and spouse Matthew of Littlefield, Texas, Jessica DeLaFuente and wife Kristen of Lubbock, Texas, Angelica DeLaFuente and her spouse Elliot Rios of Lubbock, Texas, Charles Anthony DeLaFuente and his fiancé Leslie Sifuentez of Lubbock, Texas; and ten great-grandchildren. Carmel was preceded in death by her parents, Ascencíon and Tomasa Perea; six brothers; and six sisters; and a son, Charles DeLaFuente.
