Carmela D'Amelio

Born: February 9, 1941

Died: August 13, 2025

With love and gratitude, we share the passing of Carmela D'Amelio on August 13, 2025, at the age of 84. She was the daughter of Adeline and Vincent D'Amelio.

Carmela lived a life centered on faith, family, and simple joys. A devoted Catholic, she found strength and comfort in her church and in prayer.

Carmela retold family stories that kept the family tree alive. She never missed a birthday or milestone, with her thoughtful greeting cards always recognizable by her beautiful handwriting-a small but meaningful way she showed her love. She loved watching old movies and had a lifelong love for animals-a reflection of her kind and gentle heart.

She last worked as a dedicated crossing guard in Chatham Township, never having missed a single day of work. A hard worker throughout her life, Carmela rose to the challenges of every job she held.

She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Johnny.

She is survived by her three brothers, Angelo and his wife Diana, Dominic and Lisa, Frank and his wife Kathy; her dear cousins Jerry, Anthony and wife Tracy, and Rocco and wife Carol; her beloved nieces and nephews Autumn and Vanessa, Michael, Christopher, Lynn, Anna, Joanna, and Angela as well as numerous other family– all of whom brought her joy throughout the years.

Her faith, love for family, and thoughtful spirit will be deeply missed and always remembered.

A short graveside blessing with Father Christopher will be held on Tuesday, August 26th, at 9:45 a.m. at Gates of Heaven Cemetery 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ 07936. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Assumption Church (91 Maple Ave, Morristown, NJ 07960), honoring Carmela's love for her faith.
