Carmela Wright Obituary

Carmela Lynda Wright (Salupo) gained her angel wings on the evening of Tuesday, November 11, 2025 surrounded by loved ones, just as she was all her life. Carmy was 90 years old and known to most as "Nannie".
No time would ever have been enough with our "Nans", but we were blessed to have her for so long. She was a lady always on the move; whether it was in her own house or out and about. She was the first to show up for anything, often with her famous homemade bread in tow. Always wanting her whole family to be "all together". She was an avid crafter with her creativity including painting, sewing, crochet, and mostly recently, macramé. Nannie loved to watch sports, especially basketball, but you could hear her talking about any Cleveland team depending on the season. Bowling was her passion, and she had bowled a perfect score more than once. She never missed a game one of her family members was participating in if she could help it. Her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids always had the best cheerleader on the sidelines. She was up for any car ride, whether it was just somewhere local or off on an adventure. She loved any event involving her loved ones; especially her great grandkids. Her family was a joy to her heart and meant the world to her. Not a day went by that she wasn't talking about her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. You could often find her pulling out her phone to share a photo or two of them. She was so proud to be a mother and Nannie; those were arguably her greatest and most cherished achievements in life.
As a mother, all the neighborhood children came to play at her house, because she was always ready to jump in and play alongside them. She initiated water fights, made puppet theaters out of appliance boxes, showed movies with a projector and screen on summer evenings, and was a friend to everyone. Her door was always open.
So many were blessed to know her and call her friend. She made an impact on everyone who knew her; from her grandchildren's friends, to her bowling teammates, to her parish family, and countless more.
Your light will shine so brightly, Nannie, as we speak so fondly of you all the days of our lives.
