Carmella F. "Mimi" Jaye (1932-2025) Carmella F. "Mimi" Jaye passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the age of 93. A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Mimi was truly one of a kind, touching the hearts and souls of all who knew her. She devoted much of her life to the performing arts as Assistant Director of the New Hyde Park and Holy Spirit Players and was deeply committed to her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John F. Jaye, and her son, William T. Jaye. She is survived by her children: Kenneth Jaye, Douglas Jaye (Karen), John Jaye (Arlene) and daughter-in-law, Barbara Jaye. She cherished her grandchildren: Kevin Jaye (Lauren), Megan Jaye (Brandon), Amanda Jaye, Heidi Jaye, Liesl Jaye, Greta Jaye, Stephen Jaye (Abby), and Cara Fernandez (Fernando), and her great-grandchildren: Lincoln and Cohen Shirley, and Claire and Lucy Jaye, as well as Parker and Chloe Fernandez and her cherished best friend of 51 years, Marilyn McClean, whose friendship meant the world to her. Mimi was a spirited and passionate woman who truly came alive through performing and dancing. She loved being on stage, sharing her talents, and encouraging others to do the same. Above all, she cherished time spent with family and friends, always wanting to be present and connected. A woman of deep Catholic faith, Mimi trusted fully in God's promise of eternal life. Her family finds comfort in knowing she has been joyfully reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, John, and her son, William, where she is surely dancing once again. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at Franklin Funeral Home on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 7–9 PM, and Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 2–6 PM. A Mass will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 9:30 AM at St. Catherine's, Franklin Square. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Carmella "Mimi" F. Mimi Jaye was a wonderful, charming, and warm person. I knew her as Mrs Jaye because whenever I visited her son, Billy, we would engage in a delightful conversation. It was unusual to me for an adult to take an interest in someone as young as I was. Recently, I attempted to reconnect with her to learn more about her son's recent death, only to find out that she had also passed away just a week earlier. Rest in peace, Mrs. Jaye. You are a wonderful person.

Mimi will forever be a light in so many of our lives, so many of us who were lucky enough to be children in a town where she lived, to be mentored by her, loved by her. She and Marilyn were such a magical duo, an example of true friendship. Mimi saw each child, she looked for what made us shine, and more importantly, what held us back. She loved freely and always spoke with honesty in a loving way. She was truly a blessing to us all. Love you Mimi.
