Carmen George Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 26, 2025.
Carmen Ruth George, a cherished resident of the Carl Community, passed away on November 24, 2025, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. She was ninety-three years old.
Carmen Ruth Martin was born on February 27, 1932, in Optimal, Oklahoma, to William Martin and Hazel Belle (Wallberry) Martin. She was raised in Spearman, Texas, where she received her education and spent her youth surrounded by family, faith, and the values that would guide her throughout her life.
As a young woman, Carmen met a hardworking farmhand named L.J. George at the local soda shop where she worked an encounter that blossomed into a lifelong love. Carmen Martin and L.J. George were united in marriage on October 11, 1948, in Perryton, Texas. Together, they shared over 65 wonderful years, building a home filled with love, faith, and family in the Carl Community.
Carmen dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted mother, a loving wife, a treasured sister, and a woman who believed deeply in caring for others. Her children always came first, and she lived out her faith in the way she loved and served those around her.
In 1970, Carmen began working for the Hollis School System as a teacher's aide and bus driver, roles through which she touched many young lives. She was a longtime attendee of the Baptist Church in Vinson, and when her health no longer allowed her to be present in person, she faithfully followed services from Trinity Fellowship in Sayre, Oklahoma. She was a constant student of Scripture, reading her Bible daily and developing a profound relationship with Jesus Christ. She instilled strong Christian roots in her children, a legacy she carried with grace and conviction.
Carmen is survived by her children, James George and his wife Debbie of Spearman, Texas
Leslie George of Vinson, Vickie Kromer of Vinson, Rona Nash of Vinson.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren Faith, Shawna, Cliff, Derek, Sarah, Jared, Caleb, Deneile, along with eighteen great-grandchildren, her brother David Martin and his wife Patty, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her siblings-June Potts, William "Billy" Martin, Donna Sue Martin, and Lari Catherine Martin, two grandchildren, Jeramy, Erin Nicole and Devin-her parents, and her beloved husband of 65 years, L.J. George.
Carmen Ruth George lived a life marked by love, faith, and devotion. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the deep affection she held for her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her
Pallbearers, Brad Whisenant, Rick Skorepa, Cliff Kromer, Darren Hood, Derick George, Jared George, Nick Wright.
