Carol Marie Abts went home to her loving Father on August 22, 2025. She was born to Everett and Marion Mahutga on February 18, 1943.
Carol was wed to Kenneth Wessin and to this union three daughters were born. Carol later married Gordon Abts, and together they fulfilled their earthly lives by caring for and serving others. Carol was a dedicated and faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fountain City, WI where she served in various loving capacities. She spent many hours preparing garments and items for priests, cleaning the church and rectory, and mowing the lawns. Carol was always willing to help and would graciously assist anyone in what ever task was laid before her. She welcomed everyone into her home and provided childcare to many area families. She was a loving mother to her three daughters, proud grandmother to five grandchildren, and an adoring great-grandmother of seven. Carol was devoted to her family and took on many caretaking roles.
Carol will be forever remembered for her everlasting love, giving nature and devotion to others. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Susan (Rick Larson) Wessin, Lori (Nacer Adib) Wessin, and Melanie (Bill) Pronschinske; grandchildren, Tyler (Jen) Brown, Rayanna (Cody) Kave, Regan Brown, Jeremy Pronschinske, and Mikala Pronschinske; seven great grandchildren, Bearett, Dakoda, Lily, Sunny, and Augie Kave; and Kellan and Jett Brown. Siblings, Barbara (LaVern) Foss, Jeanette (Ronald) Docken, Patricia Duell, Diane (James) Daffinson, Joseph (Jean) Mahutga, Donald Mahutga, Ronald (Theresa) Mahutga, Bernard (Joyce) Mahutga, Judith (Jerry) Richards, Rose (Steve) Chambers and Rita Earney, along with many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceding Carol in death were her parents; husband, Gordon Abts; and brother in laws, Art Duell and Lonnie Earney.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 10:00- Noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fountain City, WI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM at the same location, with Father Albert Antonysamy as celebrant. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
