Carol Sue (Greathouse) Arter, 84, of Hesston, PA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 16, 2026, at her residence. Born May 19, 1941 in Durbin, WV, she was a daughter of the late Herbert H. and M. Lucille (Kennison) Greathouse. She was united in marriage to Barry D. Arter on August 27, 1966 in Columbia, PA. Mr. Arter preceded her in death on June 14, 2008, after 41 years of marriage.

She is survived by her daughter and son, Susan A. Gruber and husband, Jay, of Mt. Joy, PA, and David E. Arter and wife, Thelma June, of Buckeye, WV; a grandson, Trevor B. Gruber; two step-granddaughters, Kim Scheaffer and Denise Haggard; and six great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a brother and sister, Larry T. Greathouse of Lititz, PA, and Linda K. Moyers of Waynesboro, PA; and was preceded in death by two siblings, Robert L. Greathouse and Phyillis L. Houchin.

Mrs. Arter was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church, McConnellstown, PA, and the Durbin Brethren Church, Durbin, WV.

She was a 1959 graduate of Green Bank High School, Green Bank, WV.

In 1979, Mrs. Arter became employed by C&D Technologies, Inc., Leola, PA, and retired in 2003 as a Human Resource Manager after 24 years of service.

She loved traveling and especially enjoyed going on trips across the United States with her late husband, Barry, on their Honda Gold Wing Trike. She was also an avid reader and adored watching the birds at her feeders. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.

Friends will be received from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, PA. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 21st, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Lou Zannino officiating. Private interment will be in Anderson Cemetery, Penn Township, Hesston, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in remembrance of Carol S. Arter may be made to UPMC Home Healthcare and Family Hospice, 20 Sheraton Dr, Altoona, PA 16601.
