Carol J. (Spangenburg) Batdorf, 94, of Wyomissing, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
She was the wife of the late David J. Batdorf, Esquire, for 61 years at the time of his passing on December 15, 2013.
Born in Clarks Summit, PA, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Maud (Bright) Spangenburg.
Carol was a graduate of Clarks Summit High School in 1949, and attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1954.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Reading and served as Vice President of the Greater Reading Council of Churches. She was active in the United Way of Berks County and for several years was the Democratic Committeewoman for the Wyomissing area, Board Member of AAUW, Board of Directors of Nolde Environmental Education Center, Member of Election Board, Wyomissing, Co-Founder and Board Member of Berks County Prison Society and Wyomissing Library Board Member.
She is survived by her three children: David J. Batdorf, realtor, Cumru Township; Jonathan B. Batdorf, Esq., Mohnton; and Rebecca Batdorf Stone, Esq., (widow of the late Maurice D. Stone, Esq., January 6, 2021), Cumru Township. Also surviving are her three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank The Highlands At Wyomissing and the Reading Hospital ICU Unit for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
