Carol Blocker

Carol Sanders Blocker, 85, passed away at home on Saturday, February 21, 2026. She was born June 10, 1940, in Liberty County, Florida, to Mamie Kyle Sanders and James Pinkney Sanders. Independent, strong, and undeniably headstrong, Carol loved her family and worked hard to support her three children while giving them a strong work ethic and manners.

Carol retired from American General Insurance Company. She loved to fish, camp, and spend time with her children. She loved her children and grandchildren so much that she kept every birthday and Mother's Day card given to her, dating back to 1989.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny J. Blocker; mother, Mamie Kyle Strickland; father, James Pinkney Sanders; brother, Dalles Sanders; daughter, Cindy D. Welch; and son-in-law, Jesse Welch. and son, Cliffton John Horton, survived by his wife, Denise V. Horton.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Teresa A. Curtis, and partner, Theodore (Ted) McPhaul; brother, Paul Horton, Jr., and his wife, Jennifer Horton. Grandchildren: Beverly McFadden, Jesse Welch, Jr., and Thomas D. Green. Great-grandchildren: Kalissa McFadden, Madison G. Green, Layne R. Davis, and Hudson B. Green. Great-great-grandchildren: Madyson, Nevach, and Raelynn.

The family would like to thank the Big Bend Hospice West Team, especially Kristen Hill, Mary Beth O'Neal, and Melissa Mitchell for caring for Carol in her last weeks of life.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. EST at Corinth Baptist Church in Hosford. Services will be Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown, at 2:00 P.M. EST. A graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy.
