Carol Jean Bream

Carol Jean Bream, 80, of Coralville, passed away on March 3, 2026 after a long illness.

Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family c/o Ronald Bream.

Carol was born on May 20, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa to Harry and Crystal (Areingdale) Smith. Carol and her mother moved to Iowa City where Carol graduated from City High in 1963 before receiving her associate's degree from Kirkwood Community College.

On June 7, 1964 she married Ronald Bream in Iowa City and to this union, two children were born.

Carol worked at Sears for over 13 years before starting her career at the University of Iowa as an accounting and business office clerk; retiring in 2002.

In her spare time, Carol enjoyed volunteering at the Amana Library and was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary for 59 years, serving as a past officer. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed crocheting, history and traveling. Her and Ron were fortunate enough to visit Australia four times as well as New Zealand, Berlin and Germany for many military reunions. Above all, Carol was a devoted and loving wife and mother….who was also a self-proclaimed Disney fanatic.

Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Ronald; children: Ronald Bream II (Lisa) and Patrick Bream; grandchildren: Tyler (Alyssa) Bream, Cody Bream (Laney Van), Shelby Bream (Kevin Akstulewicz) and Marissa Bream as well as great grandchildren: Judah, Wesley and Gemma. She was preceded in death by her mother, Crystal and her cousins: Mary Zajeck, Eva Erb and Carlisle Erb.
