Carol (Norige) Bunce, 90, of Tolland, beloved wife of 50 years to the late Douglas O. Bunce, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 20, 2025. She was born on June 23, 1935, in Hartford, daughter to John J. and Estelle (Masilonis) Norige.

Carol grew up in East Hartford and was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1953. Following high school, Carol briefly worked at Pratt & Whitney before meeting her partner in life – Doug. They were married in 1956 and made their home in Vernon before moving to Tolland in 1967. In 1969, Carol went back to work as an executive assistant in a variety of places over the years including Kingfisher Garcia, Edwin Lavitt, Esq., and Day, Berry & Howard. She was actively involved in the Tolland Senior Center and could be found playing darts, pool, or attending drum circle. She loved to sing and was an accomplished vocalist. As a senior citizen, she joined Tolland's "Notables" and sang as part of a large chorus that performed in many places, including an annual concert her children enjoyed attending. She was an avid reader and loved to solve all types of puzzles. She was a big fan of the New England Patriots and loved to watch UCONN Women's basketball. She especially loved her dogs Mandy, Bobby & Jordi, who shared her life and were dearly missed. She had a giving heart and donated to a variety of charities. Carol's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. As a mother of four, Carol's home was a gathering place for Sunday dinners and holiday celebrations. Special hours were spent with her great-granddaughter, Addyson.

Carol is survived by her four children, Karen Ketaineck and her husband David of Broad Brook, Deane Bunce and his wife Diana of Frederick, MD, Mary Messenger and her partner Kenneth Sweeney of Vernon, and James Bunce and his wife Suzanne of Tolland; her nine grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, Sarah, Alexander, Zachary, Lindsay, Christopher, Nicholas, and Brian; as well as her seven great-grandchildren, Riley, Madison, Evan, Reagan, Addyson, Jacob, and Lennon.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rt 83), in Vernon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 25, beginning at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish – St. Matthew Church, 111 Tolland Green, Tolland.
