Carol Burns

Carol Burns, age 91, of Oconto Falls, formerly of Berlin, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at The Cottages.

She was born April 28, 1934, in Berlin, WI, the daughter of Clifford and Anna Weiland Young. Carol was a 1952 graduate of Berlin High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from UW-Stout. On November 9, 2002, she was united in marriage to Leonard Burns at Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls where she was a longtime member and participated in bible studies. She was also a member of Oconto County Homemakers, the WI and Nicolet-Oconto Retired Teachers Associations, Oconto Falls Lioness Club and the WI and National Education Associations. As a dedicated teacher who loved her students, Carol taught family and consumer education at Sheboygan High School and Hartford Middle School before retiring from Wabeno High School in 1998.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard Burns; three children, Judy Lenhardt, Jane (Eric) Scott and Scott (Diana) Lenhardt; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and Leonard's family members, Paul (Janet) Burns, Kim Kujawski, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Lyle Young; and stepson, Timothy Burns.

Graveside services with inurnment will be held on Saturday, September 13, at 11:00 a.m., at Oakwood Cemetery in Berlin, with Rev. Scott T. Piper officiating. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin.
