Carol Ann Carter-Seward of Shamrock, TX passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 in McLean, TX at the age of 86. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation and Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Carol was born on May 29, 1939, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Lester M. Carter and Esther G. (Williamson) Carter, who preceded her in death. She grew up in West University, Texas, and graduated from Bellaire High School in 1957. On June 14, 1958, she married the love of her life, Robert B. Seward Sr., in Houston, Texas. Carol was also preceded in death by her beloved parents-in-law, Alice Louise (Sterling) Seward and Andrew Basye Seward Sr.
Carol earned her Bachelor of Science degree and Lifetime Teaching Certificate from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth in 1961. She began her career as a private music instructor throughout the 1960s and 1970s and later taught elementary school at St. John's Lutheran School in Oxnard, California. In the next chapter of her life, Carol pursued her calling in nursing, becoming a registered nurse alongside her husband, Robert. Together, they shared many rewarding years in nursing practice, serving in a variety of critical care specialties both in Fort Worth and as traveling nurses across the country.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert B. Seward Sr., of Shamrock, Texas; her daughter, Sherrilyn Seward; her sons, Robert B. Seward Jr. and his wife, Irene Luo Seward, and Christian Seward and his wife, Laura Ann Soranno-Seward; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Carol is also survived by her brother, Richard Earl Carter, and his wife, Joy; who gave Carol three nieces, five grand nieces, 3 grand nephews, three great grand nieces, and one great grand nephew.
Carol was a musical prodigy, an artist and artisan. Her kindness, intelligence, and deep compassion touched countless hearts and lives. She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and the love she shared so freely with everyone around her.
She is forever loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society in her memory.
