Carol Jane Claxton, 82, passed away peacefully at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility in Stockton, MO.
Carol was born on July 7, 1943, in Frankfort, Kansas to Eldon and Jane Allen. She was joined in marriage to Kerry Claxton on September 5th, 1969. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and nature, eventually settling on a 40-acre farm near La Russell, Missouri in 1978. It was there that Carol found her greatest joy-surrounded by her family, her garden, fishing spots, quilting and the warmth of large holiday gatherings.
Carol was a gifted artist, known for her remarkable talent in oil and acrylic painting. Her creative spirit and love for the natural world were evident in every piece she created, and her art touched the lives of many. She was also a long-time member of Round Grove Baptist Church in Miller, Missouri where her husband Kerry taught Sunday school for many years.
Carol is survived by two sons, Jerry Willis and his wife Michelle of Joplin and Larry Willis and his wife Annette of Carthage; two daughters, Lisa Thompson and her husband Teryel of Carthage and Anna Rollett and her late husband Michael of Miller; and her brother, Eldon Lee Allen and wife Glenda of Butler; Sue Allen wife of Roger Allen of Carthage. 11 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Kerry Claxton, her parents, Eldon and Jane Allen, and her brother Roger Allen.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Saturday, October 18, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Round Grove Baptist Church in Miller, Missouri. Carol's family remembers her not only for her creativity and warmth, but for the strength, grace, and love she showed throughout her life.
