Carol Faith Doerhoefer, 89, of Louisville, went to the Lord on Friday, May 31, 2024.
Carol was born in Louisville on November 9, 1934, the youngest child and the only daughter of William "Ed" and Elsie Ricketts Johnson. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1952.
She married our dad, Donald Doerhoefer on July 20, 1957, and had three children, Bart, Brian and Amy. After successfully making sure she had instilled enough independence to the three of us, she went back to work at a temporary agency. Her loyalty and dedication meant that she had several offers for permanent positions, and ultimately accepted a job with Brown Forman working in benefits and training and development.
Despite her independence, she was a kind and caring wife, mother and grandmother, and proud of each of them.
She is survived by her children Bart (Kim Westermann), Brian (Leslie), and Amy Harris (Scott), 7 grandchildren, Tyler, Catie Danahay (Patrick), Matthew and Taylor Doerhoefer, Bradley, Zach (Hollie Mullin), and Ethan Harris. She is also survived by her brother Charles Johnson, and many nieces and nephews. Despite retiring 25 years ago, she maintained close contact with Cheryl Beckman, Missy Norris, and Amy Webb.
She was preceded in this life by her husband Don, her parents, and two brothers Richard E. and Richard C. Johnson (it's a story!)
Her funeral will be on Wednesday, June 5 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 am till noon on June 5.
Expressions of Sympathy can be sent to Sanders-Brown Center on Aging at University of Kentucky.
