Obituary for Randy Ray Doerhoefer March 10, 1964 – July 27, 2025 Randy Ray Doerhoefer, age 61, of
Roswell, NM, passed away on July 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family, friends, and the comfort of his faith. He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years and life partner of 33 years, Lori Jean Doerhoefer, and his children Scott Farrel (wife Charmi) and Andrew Martinez. He was a proud "Dad" to honorary daughter Brittany Williams. Randy was blessed with grandchildren who brought him immense joy: Madelyn Romero, Leah Geerdes, Lynze Geerdes, Koebe Farrel, Cypress Farrel, Audrey Martinez, Meadow Farrel, and Crimson Farrel. Randy served as a Godfather to 14 beloved children: Joshua Sorg, Joshua J.R. Sorg, Matisen Johns, Brittany Williams, Joshua Blaze Fierro, Jeremiah Sorg, Savannah Yearout, Madelena Weeks, Isabel Garcia, Peyton David, Chase Fields, Macy Woods, Benjamin Weeks, and Logan Weeks, and was an honorary Godfather to Emma Kuehnemund, Kyra Woods, Stone Fields, and Mara Weeks. His heart and home were always open-Randy didn't just love kids, he made them feel safe, important, and seen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Connie Doerhoefer, and by beloved grandparents, aunts and uncles. He is survived by his sister Melissa Scott and brother-in-law Charles Scott, aunt Annie Regalado, and in-laws Jennifer, John (wife Bonetta), and Joshua (wife Natasha). He is also remembered with love by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a vast network of extended family and lifelong friends. A Life of Faith, Service, and Sports Randy graduated from Goddard High School, where he played varsity basketball and golf. His passion for aviation and service led him to attend the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK, while simultaneously serving in the New Mexico Army National Guard. He also studied at Eastern New Mexico University, New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI), New Mexico State University, and completed the PGA Professional Golf Management Program. Following in the footsteps of his father, Randy proudly served his country in the United States Army at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, and the New Mexico Army National Guard. His devotion to duty and country was deeply rooted and lifelong. Randy worked alongside his father in the family business, eventually launching Wholesale Tire Company and later taking over Frank's Used Cars. After years of hard work and entrepreneurship, he returned to his greatest passion-golf-resuming his professional career and mentoring others through the game he loved. As a gifted golf professional, Randy held positions at Hobbs Country Club, Sonoma Ranch Golf Club in Las Cruces, and the NMMI Golf Course, where he also coached the high school and junior college golf teams. He mentored countless junior and adult golfers with a mix of skill, encouragement, and humor. Golf wasn't just his profession-it was his ministry. Randy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder, council member, and in various ministries and committees throughout the years. His faith in Jesus Christ guided every part of his life. Racing, the Vikings, and a Life Lived Fully Randy's greatest hobby was stock car racing, a passion he shared with his father. He was a proud driver with a shelf full of trophies and a competitive spirit that never wavered. His favorite track was Vado Speedway Park, where he spent countless weekends doing what he loved, surrounded by family, friends, and fellow racers. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Randy also played in bowling leagues, participated in church softball, and competed in Gus Macker basketball tournaments, where he earned more than his fair share of wins (and bruises). But perhaps no team held his heart like the Minnesota Vikings. Randy was a fierce, faithful fan who always believed a Super Bowl win was just around the corner. His sports room was a purple shrine to his team-and Packer fans were strictly prohibited (Scotty was the exception), Football Sundays were sacred, and no one repped the Vikings with more heart. Despite his towering height, Randy was gentle, loyal, and fiercely loving. He was the man who showed up. The one who called just to check in. The one who gave you his last dollar or a place to land. He had a deep moral compass and a sense of humor that could fill a room. He was the one kids called "Uncle," the coach who stuck with you, the friend who never let go, and the brother you could always count on. He was our rock. Our protector. Our cheerleader. Our hero. Services A celebration of Randy's life will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in
Roswell, NM, on Saturday, August 2nd at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at General Douglas L. McBride Roswell Veterans Cemetery, with a reception afterward at the church.
