Naomi Sostena Martinez (Herrera Gonzales), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Born on September 7, 1953, in Carrizozo, New Mexico, to Sostena and Andres Gonzales, Naomi lived a life full of warmth, creativity, and devotion to her family.
A proud graduate of Goddard High School, Class of 1971, Naomi pursued a lifelong love of learning, earning multiple degrees in teaching, cosmetology, and business. Her talents and passions were as vibrant as her spirit-she found joy in cruising to oldies music, exploring nature's beauty, planting gardens, crafting, and celebrating holidays and birthdays with those she loved most.
Naomi had a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures, from museum visits to quiet moments with family. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the comforting presence of someone who truly cherished togetherness.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience in her children: Sparklle Briseno (Faith), Blosme Morales, Rayitos Maritinez, and Shimmerwind Ortega; her grandchildren: Whisperangels Briseno (Ricky), Barbourella Briseno (Santiago), Sparklle Briseno (Angelo), Serenity Vasquez, Abel Vasquez, Azallina Molina, Celso Ortega, Francisco Ronquillo, and Arissa Martinez; and her great-grandchildren: Celso Andazola, Ricky Marcelleno Romero, Audicah Snow Briseno, Yunnecity Love, Aveonaa Joy Madrid, Alina Salonas, Jordan Silva, and Arturo Duran. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and cherished friends including "The Loves" and Adolf Hunter.
Naomi is reunited in eternal peace with her children Celso Martinez and Nick De Dios Gonzales; grandchild, Marcelleno Briseno; great-grandchildren: Angel Martinez, Naomi Sparklle Madrid, Andres and Sostena Gonzales (Herrera); and siblings: Blacita Kinkle, Filomino Gonzales, Andres Gonzales, and Lupita Urbina.
